IN PERSON at UNISON West Midlands Regional Centre, Birmingham
This one day course is a general introduction to employment law for stewards with little experience and no previous training in employment law beyond what is covered in the general stewards’ introductory courses.
Employment law is an enormous and complex subject. This introductory course is designed to give participants an overview and general feel for how employment law works, and areas it is likely to apply to within UNISON. It is not possible to deal with any one subject area in full detail. The course focuses on areas most likely to arise with UNISON members such as unfair dismissal, redundancy and discrimination.
It does not deal with collective employment rights such as trade union recognition and consultation.
This is a good starting point for anyone wishing to gain basic knowledge of the subject before taking it further with more advanced employment law courses.
Please note there is a £15 per head branch fee for this course
